How do I make a booking?

Once you have gossiped our website and seen how cool we are, go ahead and fill in the “booking” section with the requested details.

Once your booking request has been validated, you will receive the information about the payments to be made and you will have 48 hours to complete it. During this time, your selected room will be blocked for you.

You will also get access to the internal area where you can fill out all your information and details we need.

If you’d like to chat with the Vanguard team, you can also contact our reservations department via email at book@cotown.com.

What payments do I have to make?

To make the reservation you must pay the membership fee and the guarantee.

If your country is on the European Commission’s list of strategic deficiencies in the prevention of money laundering and terrorist financing or has difficulties with currency transfers (such as Egypt, Libya and Turkey), you will be asked to provide an additional guarantee as a precautionary measure.

The amount of the guarantee will be returned at the end of the stay if there are no damages caused by misuse of the facilities in your apartment.

Can I cancel my booking after payment?

It’d be a shame, but you can cancel your booking up to one month before the contract date. Just keep in mind that you’ll lose the amount paid as a membership fee.

Cancellations made less than one month before the contract date will result in a loss of 100% of the amount paid.

What payment methods can I use?

  • You can pay by credit card

  • Direct debit in case you have a European bank account

I don't have a Spanish bank account. How can I create one so that payments can be direct debited?

Our mates at Revolut are on top of it. Now you can create a bank account in a matter of 5 minutes.

Does the guarantee apply to the monthly rent?

We know that in the midst of all the payments and moves, doubt can creep in. But quick heads up: the guarantee is not your rent for the month. It is not a payment for use, but a guarantee that we ask you for in advance. It’s just a “just in case” that we keep and return to you at the end. The monthly rent, on the other hand, is the monthly payment for the use of the property.

*Remember that the guarantee and the rent are different and cannot be substituted for each other.

Preparation for the trip and arrival at Vanguard

What appliances and furnishings does the flat have, and what should I pack in my bags?

Our flats are fully equipped.

After all, you will be in your own home.

The rooms have a set of courtesy bedding (duvet, pillow, sheets and towels).

The kitchens are also fully equipped (we were advised by Masterchef).

In short, if you bring a full suitcase it is because you want to.

Where do I pick up my keys?

We offer some alternatives:

  • Request that we receive you directly at the apartment (extra cost).

  • Pick up the keys at the place we indicate.

Outside working hours, on holidays or weekends there are special conditions.

Before your arrival, you’ll receive an email with all the available options so you can choose from them.

When do I have to pay for the first month of my stay?

The first month of stay is paid between the 1st and 5th of each month.

What happens if I can’t arrive on the planned date?

Sometimes you might not be able to travel on the scheduled date due to personal reasons, forgetting to book your ticket or visa delays. In this case, if you want to keep your spot, you'll need to pay the rent. Otherwise, the company reserves the right to cancel your booking, and that would indeed be a worse pickle than forgetting to buy your ticket (boo hoo).

Now i’m in my new home!

How do I pay my monthly rent?

You can pay the monthly rent between the 1st and 5th of each month in your internal area.

*If you have chosen direct debit, it will be debited directly from your account. Please note that together with the first monthly payment, a final cleaning fee will be charged.

What are the co-living rules for my flat?

To ensure good vibes in the flat, we have a few rules that everyone must follow. You can check them out here.

What if I want to move to another Vanguard apartment?

Well, your flatmates will be sad, but you will only have to pay 100€ for the change.

Can I have visitors over?

Yes, but they can’t spend the night. To avoid irking your flatmates and waking up with shaving cream on your face, your visitors shouldn't stick around past 10 p.m. Always check with your flatmates before inviting friends or family.

What if there’s an issue in my flat?

You’ll need to contact our customer service department, and our maintenance team will take care of fixing the issues within a reasonable timeframe. If the damage is due to misuse of the facilities, the responsible person will have to cover the repair costs.

Who’s in charge of cleaning?

Since we said goodbye to Mary Poppins, Vanguard Student Housing will take care of the regular cleaning of your apartment's common areas.

Remember, you’re responsible for keeping things tidy at home and making sure the kitchen and utensils stay clean.

You will also be in charge of the laundry and washing your own clothes, sheets and towels, for which you have a washing machine and dryer at your disposal inside your apartment at no extra cost.

Going back home

What do I have to do when I leave?

We make it easy for you, you must leave the keys on the table in your room and close the door. Check-out time at 10am.

What if I have to leave earlier than expected?

If for any reason you need to leave your awesome place before the end of your rental contract and give us at least one month’s notice of the new departure date, the security deposit will be refunded.

If you give less than one month’s notice of your new departure date, the security deposit won’t be refunded.

When and how will my deposit be refunded?

Your guarantee will be returned by bank transfer from your departure date after checking that there are no damages.
